Discovering more challenges, road blocks, and societal changes needed as a DV survivor.

I am on a path of freedom. Freedom from pain and fear. On that path to freedom, I am discovering where society lets Domestic Violence survivors down. A DV survivor cannot protect herself from an abuser without the assistance of the legal system and without adequate resources. When she has a child, this creates a more difficult legal situation for her. Some women are not permitted to, legally, protect themselves or their children at all. They continue to deal with abuse, harassment, stalking, and the possibility of death or abduction. We need to change the way that society and the courts manage Domestic Violence cases. The perpetrator should NOT have more rights than the victims. If we want to stop the cycle of violence, we need to protect the children and give them the counseling that they need to recover and learn about HEALTHY relationships. I will be writing more on this as I have the time. As a Domestic Violence survivor and a single mom, my free time is very limited. I hope to be the voice for other survivor’s, one day.
